May 20, 2026 at 10:25 AMMovopack, an Italian company specializing in reusable packaging for retail, e-commerce, and B2B logistics, has announced the acquisition of all assets from Hipli, marking its entry into the French market. This acquisition represents a significant step in Movopack’s international growth strategy, following the company’s operations in Great Britain in 2024. With this move, Movopack aims to strengthen its position as one of the leading providers of reusable secondary packaging in Europe.
Movopack was founded in 2021 in Milan by (from left to right) Andrea Cipollone, Alberto Cisco, and Tomaso Torriani. The company develops returnable packaging that can be reused more than 20 times, contributing to the reduction of environmental impact from packaging. According to a preliminary life cycle analysis conducted by third parties, each packaging unit from Movopack that is reused 20 times can reduce packaging waste by up to 98% and CO2 emissions by up to 84% compared to single-use packaging. Movopack has over 100 customers in Italy and Great Britain, including well-known brands such as Decathlon Italy, Yamamay, and OVS. At the end of 2024, the company completed a funding round led by the 360 Capital Partners fund, with participation from Greiner Innoventures and Techstars, raising a total of 3 million EUR in capital.
Hipli, founded in 2020, was one of the leading providers of circular packaging for e-commerce in France. The startup developed reusable packaging that can be used up to 100 times and employed digital tools to facilitate tracking and acceptance. Hipli has more than 350 customers, including major brands known to French consumers, and has expanded its operations to several European markets, including Great Britain, Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands. By acquiring the assets of Hipli, including the brand, intellectual property, operational infrastructure, warehouse, and inventory, Movopack can secure a strong position in the French market.
Strategic market entry in France
Business development will initially be led by a French representative of Movopack before a local team of native speakers takes over responsibility to ensure close alignment with the specific requirements of the French market. Each customer will receive tailored solutions during the transition phase based on the existing infrastructure in Le Havre. The management of the packaging already in circulation from Hipli will be transferred to Movopack, with direct coordination with customers to ensure service continuity and maximum operational flexibility.
France represents one of the largest and most dynamic markets in Europe, with an e-commerce market estimated to reach 196.4 billion EUR by 2025 and an estimated e-commerce packaging market of about 3.2 billion USD by 2025. With this acquisition, Movopack aims to accelerate its growth and strengthen its position in the European sustainable packaging sector, with the goal of managing 10 million packaging units in France over the next 24 months.
