May 20, 2026 at 9:17 AMHellmann Worldwide Logistics and MAS Holdings have announced the construction of a new logistics center for the fashion industry in Kimbulapitiya, Sri Lanka. The facility will be built in the Gampaha District of the Western Province and is located just six kilometers from Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB). This investment will further expand the existing collaboration in the joint venture Hellmann MAS Supply Chain (HMSC). The new warehouse is intended to serve as a central hub for the fashion industry within Hellmann’s South Asian network and is part of the global growth strategy „Forward2030.“
Strategic Importance of the Location
The geographical location of Sri Lanka, as an interface between Asia, Africa, and Europe, highlights the strategic relevance of the new site for international trade. The facility will be designed to offer customer-oriented logistics solutions that meet the demands of international fashion supply chains. This development strengthens the international presence in the fashion segment and lays the foundation for further growth in the region.
For MAS Holdings, the investment represents an important step in its growth strategy. The company, regarded as the largest apparel tech company in South Asia, is making a statement with this project for the advancement of the industry and is pursuing ambitious goals for the transformation of the global clothing industry.
The new logistics center will be built on an area of over 8,000 square meters and is specifically tailored to the requirements of fashion logistics. It will feature separate climate and humidity zones, as well as solar panels on the roof to sustainably cover part of the energy supply. The flexible and scalable infrastructure is intended to enable efficient distribution within the region as well as towards Asia, Africa, and Europe, while maintaining high standards regarding operational performance and sustainability.
Collaboration in Focus
The project builds on the long-standing cooperation between Hellmann and MAS Holdings. Within the framework of the joint venture Hellmann MAS Supply Chain, the two companies combine their expertise: Hellmann contributes its global logistics expertise, while MAS has extensive know-how in clothing production and the development of supply chains. Together, they offer international fashion brands integrated end-to-end solutions along the entire value chain in South Asia.
Patrick Grzywa, Regional COO Contract Logistics IMEA at Hellmann Worldwide Logistics, emphasizes the advantages of Sri Lanka: „Sri Lanka combines top-notch production and logistics capabilities with agile fashion supply chains, making it a reliable partner for global brands. With the new, customized location, we are specifically enhancing the end-to-end fashion logistics capabilities of our joint venture Hellmann MAS Supply Chain.“
Shakthi Ranatunge, Chief Operating Officer at MAS Holdings, highlights his company’s commitment: „This investment underscores MAS’s ongoing commitment to further strengthen Sri Lanka’s position as a globally competitive location for the apparel industry. Together with Hellmann, we are now taking a step further: we are expanding our offerings beyond traditional clothing production and creating integrated end-to-end solutions for global brands. The new facility allows us to further increase speed and flexibility while developing a resilient and future-proof apparel ecosystem in Sri Lanka.“
