Breeze calls for adjustment of maritime insurance
May 12, 2026 at 8:23 AMThe Pakistani Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, recently announced the arrival of another cargo ship at the Gwadar port. According to the minister, this underscores the growing throughput potential of the port authority. Chaudhry stated that the „MV Yuan Hang Wei Ye“ docked on May 11 with approximately 34,000 tons of cargo, consisting of around 20,000 pieces, at the deep-sea port. The ship is being used for transshipment and is transporting consignments to Abu Dhabi and Kuwait, which will be unloaded in Gwadar, as reported by the Press Information Department of the Pakistani government.
Growing importance
Chaudhry emphasized that the arrival of the cargo ship is a positive sign of the increasing significance of the port in regional maritime trade. This development reflects the growing international confidence in the facilities of Gwadar. The minister highlighted that the strategic location of the port as a transshipment hub plays a crucial role. The Pakistani government plans to further expand the port infrastructure and the services offered. The goal is to attract a larger volume of international shipping traffic.
