Arrival of cargo ship in Gwadar sets a precedent
May 12, 2026 at 8:12 AMDelsol International, a logistics company from North Wales, has appointed a new executive to further drive the company’s growth. Claire Maddock (2nd from left) has been appointed as Finance Director, as the company aims for a revenue of £1 million in its first year of independent trading. This development follows the strategic decision by CEO Kathy Jones (far right) to separate the company’s international division from the Delsol Group in July 2024.
New leadership structure to support growth
Claire Maddock has been part of the Delsol team since 2010 and has significantly contributed to the company’s commercial success. In her new role, she will be responsible for overseeing billing operations and shaping key business decisions. She commented on her appointment: “I am honored to take on this new role and continue contributing to the success of the team. I appreciate the recognition of my hard work and dedication to the Delsol Group and will do my best to meet this new challenge.”
Alongside Maddock, Jake Smithurst (far left), who serves as Global Manager for Commercial Strategies, and Dylan Walker (2nd from right), who leads international operations, will form the team responsible for the company’s further growth. Smithurst, who initially joined the company temporarily after studying law, has proven to be crucial for growth and innovation within the company. Walker, who has been with Delsol since his internship in 2016, emphasized the positive development of the company and the close collaboration with Smithurst.
Delsol International plans to scale its operations and establish itself as a key partner for Welsh businesses. The goal is to simplify import and export processes and facilitate access to global markets for local producers. Additionally, the company is working to reduce its carbon footprint by utilizing vehicles already on the road for shipment transport.
Kathy Jones, CEO of Delsol International, expressed pride in Maddock’s appointment to the board and emphasized her role in strategic decisions. She highlighted the ambitions and passion of the team and stressed the importance of the company’s Welsh roots. “We are passionate about supporting local businesses and showcasing Welsh products on the global stage, while maintaining the personal, customer-focused approach that has characterized our success so far,” said Jones.
