May 4, 2026 at 10:27 AMQatar Airways Cargo has announced the resumption of its cargo and passenger services to Iraq. Starting May 7, a weekly Boeing 777 freighter will fly to Baghdad (BGW). Additionally, the airline plans to offer passenger flights to Baghdad twice a week starting May 10.
With the resumption of these services, Qatar Airways Cargo will provide a combined cargo capacity of over 115 tons from Doha to Baghdad. The number of cargo destinations has increased to over 60 since May 1. The network for passenger flights and the associated cargo capacity will be expanded to more than 150 destinations starting June 16.
Qatar Airways Cargo products are now available for booking through the usual distribution channels, including the Digital Lounge and local sales departments.
Expansion of cargo offerings
Qatar Airways Cargo, based in Doha, operates a fleet of 30 Boeing 777 freighters and utilizes the underfloor cargo capacity of over 230 passenger aircraft from Qatar Airways. The airline has also qualified as the launch customer for the new Boeing 777-8F, which is equipped with advanced technology and promises a 25% improvement in fuel efficiency and emissions, with deliveries scheduled for 2027.
