This funding comes from the Port Infrastructure Development Program (PIDP) of the U.S. Maritime Administration (MARAD), which allocates a total of $450 million for projects aimed at improving freight movement in U.S. ports, as stated by the port.
The planned measures include the construction of a new container terminal and the installation of a new exit gate. These projects are part of the port’s strategic application aimed at increasing the operational safety of the terminals. The expansions are intended to accommodate the anticipated increase in freight traffic while also improving operational efficiency and safety for employees and terminal users.
