Zaragoza Airport sets new monthly record
Apr 16, 2026 at 8:27 AMThe crane manufacturer Künz and ABB have received an order for the delivery of nine rail-mounted stacking cranes for the expansion of the TraPac terminal in Los Angeles CA (USA). The project is part of a comprehensive expansion programme aimed at increasing handling capacities and the long-term development of the terminal.
The new cranes are intended to utilise storage areas more efficiently and optimise container handling. Production will take place in various regions of Europe, with the assembly carried out in Poland. Delivery is scheduled for 2027 and 2028.
Künz is responsible for the design of the steel structures as well as the integration of the mechanical components. ABB will supply the electrification and control systems. Both companies have collaborated on terminal crane projects for years, combining their respective expertise in mechanics and automation.
The order is seen as another step in strengthening Künz’s market position in the USA, particularly on the West Coast, which is becoming strategically important for the company.
