Courier Logistics expands AssetGo usage
Apr 16, 2026 at 6:59 AMTextron Aviation has introduced a new option for the passenger variant of the Cessna SkyCourier, which includes an in-flight operable door. This feature is intended to enhance the versatility of the aircraft for special missions in military, humanitarian, and commercial operations. The new door is expected to be available as a factory-installed option starting in 2028.
Bob Gibbs, Vice President of Special Mission Sales at Textron Aviation, stated that the in-flight operable door further solidifies the existing reputation of the propeller aircraft for reliability and adaptability. This option opens new opportunities for customers worldwide, including military forces, firefighting and disaster relief organizations, as well as commercial skydivers.
Expanded operational capabilities
The in-flight operable door is a specialized modification of the cargo door designed for use during flight. It allows for opening during flight, facilitating the deployment of skydivers or the precise dropping of supplies, while standard cargo door operations on the ground remain possible. The door is designed to be both durable and user-friendly, seamlessly integrating into the versatile platform of the SkyCourier.
The Cessna SkyCourier is a twin-engine turboprop aircraft with a high-wing design that offers a combination of performance and low operating costs for air freight, commuter services, and special missions. The cargo variant is sized to accommodate up to three LD3 shipping containers with a payload capacity of 2,722 kg. The 19-passenger variant features doors for crew and passengers that allow for smooth boarding. Both variants offer a single-point pressure refueling system to enable faster turnaround times.
