Expansion of the Logistics Center
The new storage areas comprise five buildings with a total area of approximately 88,000 m². GSE Italia executed the construction work in three separate phases while adhering to the agreed timelines and cost frameworks. Additionally, landscaping measures were integrated to ensure the environmental compatibility of the project. The new buildings are set to be certified according to the BREEAM standard with an „Excellent“ rating. Implemented measures include the use of low-CO2 cement, energy-efficient building envelopes and systems, as well as rainwater recovery systems.
Pierre-David Baylac, Head of Logistics at Generali Real Estate, emphasized the strategic importance of the logistics sector for the company. He stated that the Piacenza logistics center is the result of over twenty years of development and now plays a central role in Italian and European logistics.
Piacenza as a logistics hub
The location of Piacenza between major cities such as Milan, Genoa, Verona, and Bologna makes the city a significant intermodal hub. The connection to the A1 and A21 highways, as well as proximity to key ports and airports, underscores the strategic importance of the site for national and international logistics operators.
Giulio Della Torre, Head of Logistics Activities at GSE Italia, highlighted that the project demonstrates the company’s ability to successfully manage complex construction projects. The collaboration with Generali Real Estate reaffirms GSE Italia’s role as a reliable partner for institutional investors in the industrial real estate sector.
The opening of the new construction phase was celebrated by several representatives from the city of Piacenza as well as executives from the involved companies. The expansion of the logistics center is an example of the growing importance of the logistics sector and the adaptation to the changing demands of supply chains in Europe.
