Restructuring of the Central Europe Sales Region
Jan 19, 2026 at 12:01 PMJohann Ubben has taken over the management of the Eisenbahn- und Hafenbetriebsgesellschaft Region Osnabrück (EHB) as of January 1, 2026. He succeeds Guido Giesen, who left the company at his own request. Ubben brings extensive experience from the railway industry, which he has gained in various positions.
Previously, Ubben held senior positions at ENERCON, NETINERA, and the Westfälische Landes-Eisenbahn. Most recently, he was managing director of several companies within the Captrain group and worked as an interim manager. His expertise includes, among other things, the modernization of locomotive fleets, the reactivation of railway lines, and the restructuring of international transport connections.
Strategic Development of the Port
Ubben commented on his new role and emphasized the importance of the Osnabrück port, which has its own workshop, infrastructure, and railway operations. „The task of developing the port in a future-oriented manner and ensuring its safety particularly excites me,“ he stated. With his many years of experience and strategic perspective, he will significantly drive the further development of railway and port operations in the region.
The Eisenbahn- und Hafenbetriebsgesellschaft (EHB) is a 100 percent subsidiary of the Stadtwerke Osnabrück. It is responsible for the operation, infrastructure, and development of the Osnabrück port. The EHB’s tasks particularly include the handling of goods between rail and waterway.
