Aug 9, 2022 at 4:39 PMClean Logistics SE (ISIN DE000A1YDAZ7) has today signed a framework agreement with the GP JOULE Group for the delivery of 5,000 hydrogen-electric trucks. The delivery of the vehicles is scheduled for the period from 2023 to 2027. The cooperation is associated with a planned sales volume in the lower single-digit billion euro range for Clean Logistics. The delivery of the first vehicles from a pre-series is expected to begin at the end of the third quarter of 2023, with the exact timing depending on when anticipated funding is approved. Annual delivery volumes have been agreed upon, and details of the delivery conditions and maintenance contracts are yet to be finalized.
(Hamburg) Clean Logistics will expand its new vehicle offerings in addition to its existing business model. The vehicles will be equipped with fuel cell, battery, and hydrogen tank systems. Furthermore, the specially developed axle with wheel hub motors and the unique control system “HyBoss” will be utilized.
Clean Logistics is significantly expanding its business activities with the planned delivery of hydrogen-based heavy-duty trucks. In the future, the company will extend its activities beyond its existing core business of converting buses and trucks from fossil combustion engine drives to hydrogen drives, also to new vehicles. By acquiring the Dutch truck manufacturer GINAF (see ad hoc from July 25, 2022), Clean Logistics sees itself excellently positioned to significantly ramp up the independent production of trucks and buses with emission-free hydrogen drives within the corporate group. With the acquisition of GINAF, Clean Logistics has a subsidiary with the status of an independent producer with the corresponding approval requirements for its own vehicles in Europe.
The GP JOULE Group, with its approximately 500 employees, implements the holistic energy transition: from electricity generation from wind, sun, and biomass to the marketing of energy and its use in households, industry, heating networks, and mobility. GP JOULE HYDROGEN ensures the production and procurement of green hydrogen from renewable energies, builds and operates hydrogen filling stations, and will also provide its customers from logistics, trade, and industry with the corresponding vehicles. Thus, GP JOULE HYDROGEN can offer a complete package from a single source along the entire value chain.
Dirk Graszt, CEO of Clean Logistics: “This contract for the delivery of 5,000 trucks represents a significant milestone in the decarbonization of heavy-duty transport. It is the largest contract of its kind in the world. Together with our partner GP JOULE, we will ensure that hydrogen-powered trucks soon become a part of everyday road traffic. The long-awaited shift in heavy-duty transport is gaining momentum and will now be implemented step by step in the coming years.”
Ove Petersen, CEO of GP JOULE: “With Clean Logistics, we have found the perfect partner who will help us cover the entire value chain from the production and storage of hydrogen to the establishment of the corresponding infrastructure and the provision of hydrogen-electric vehicles. This fleet of vehicles will save over 325,000 tons of CO2 annually in use and will be pioneering for the green logistics of tomorrow. We look forward to the collaboration and confidently anticipate a clean and emission-free environment.”
