Jul 9, 2026 at 11:09 AMRecently, the Port of Dunkirk and the International Market of Rungis signed a partnership agreement aimed at strengthening cooperation between these two entities in France. The signing took place in the presence of Frédéric Loiseau, Sub-Prefect of Dunkirk, and Patrice Vergriete, President of the Dunkirk Urban Community and Mayor of the city. The goal of this cooperation is to establish an agricultural logistics center that will support the food sovereignty of France and Europe, as stated by the Port of Dunkirk.
Strengthening agricultural and food supply
The partnership between the largest agricultural and food port in France and the world’s largest fresh produce market aims to leverage the synergies between both entities. Through collaboration, sustainable supply chains are to be promoted, and the transit and processing of goods through French ports optimized. Another concern is to reduce dependence on foreign ports.
The planned agricultural logistics center will focus on the logistics, processing, and value creation of food. It will be established within the international logistics zone of Dunkirk, which is awarded the „Choose France“ label. This location provides access to container and canal ferry terminals and strategically positions the center in the heart of important maritime trade flows, according to company statements.
