Zebu Air expands cargo fleet in Malawi
Jun 22, 2026 at 10:23 AMDP World has expanded its program to promote low-emission trucks in the United Kingdom. As part of the initiative, British hauliers can test electric trucks over a period of 12 weeks. This measure takes place at the Port of Southampton and is part of the second phase of the Low Carbon Truck Programme (LCTP), known as the Electric Vehicle Introduction and Transition Accelerator (EVITA).
Testing under real conditions
According to a company statement, the EVITA study follows a pilot project that was launched in January in collaboration with the Centre for Sustainable Road Freight at the University of Cambridge and the JOLT project. The program, which starts in July and runs until 2029, allows hauliers to rent electric trucks at the cost of diesel vehicles and test them under real operating conditions.
So far, according to the company, more than 1,500 trucks have registered for the Low Carbon Truck Programme, benefiting over 60 British hauliers. The EVITA study aims to help participants assess the performance of electric trucks on their own routes and in their supply chains compared to conventional diesel trucks.
