How CEIV Li-batt improves safety
Jun 10, 2026 at 7:39 AMAvianca Cargo from Colombia launched a new flight connection to Viru Viru International Airport (VVI) in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, on June 5, 2026. This connection strengthens the logistical infrastructure in the Southern Cone and enables direct links between North and South America as well as Europe. The new route connects Miami via Bogotá to Viru Viru and Santiago de Chile, offering a capacity of up to 60 tons per flight.
The connection utilizes the hub in Bogotá to efficiently transport cargo from Europe and the Southern Cone to Bolivia. Avianca Cargo employs modern Airbus A330 freighters, which can carry both general cargo and specialized shipments. This is particularly important for strategic sectors of the Bolivian economy, such as mining, automotive parts, pharmaceuticals, e-commerce, and courier services, which rely on efficient logistics solutions.
The introduction of this connection was made possible through the collaboration of various institutions, including the Ministry of Public Works, Services, and Housing, the General Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGAC), the National Customs Service of Bolivia, as well as the airport operator NAABOL (Navegación Aérea y Aeropuertos Bolivianos) and the team at Avianca Cargo.
Diogo Elías, CEO of Avianca Cargo, emphasized the significance of this new connection:
“At Avianca Cargo, we continue to invest in the development of new markets and consolidate a network that promotes more efficient connections between the Americas and the world. The opening of this connection to Bolivia is particularly significant for us, as it strengthens the country’s connectivity and directly contributes to the dynamics of foreign trade.”
With the opening of the route to Viru Viru, Avianca Cargo reaffirms its commitment to economic growth in Latin America and promotes new trade opportunities. The company positions itself as a strategic partner for the logistics industry in the region.
