May 7, 2026 at 10:36 AMCarus has entered into a partnership with Hibernia Line to provide the digital infrastructure for a new ferry service between Ireland and France. The service will provide a direct link between Cork and Boulogne-sur-Mer and is scheduled to launch in June 2026. Carus, a provider of digital solutions for the maritime industry based in the Åland Islands, will implement an “IT suite” comprising web bookings, mobile applications, onboard point-of-sale and integrated payment solutions, the company announced.
The collaboration between Carus and Hibernia Line began with scoping work in January 2026, followed by the signing of contracts in March. The booking solution went live on the Hibernia Line website on 7 May 2026.
Between Ireland and continental Europe
Hibernia Line plans to offer daily sailings in both directions using the chartered ferries “Saint Patrick” and “Akka”. This initiative aims to meet the growing demand for freight and passenger transport between Ireland and continental European countries. The project is being led by Aidan Coffey, an industry expert who, according to Carus, has expertise in Irish-European sea routes.
