Harbor Logistics appoints Auslund as CEO
Apr 30, 2026 at 10:41 AMA newly formed coalition has come together to protest the planned merger of the railroad companies Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern. The „Stop the Rail Merger Coalition“ brings together various stakeholders from the U.S. economy who express concerns about the implications of this merger. If the consolidation were to occur, it would create the largest consolidated railroad in the history of the United States and transfer control of nearly half of the entire rail traffic in the country to a single company, as recently reported by BNSF.
The coalition, which includes the American Chemistry Council, the American Farm Bureau Federation, the Teamsters Rail Conference, and several railroad operators such as BNSF Railway and CPKC Railway, warns of the potential negative consequences of the merger. According to the members, competition in the railroad sector could be significantly restricted, leading to higher costs for American manufacturers, farmers, and consumers.
