The EU Commission presented the „Accelerate EU Plan“ in Brussels on April 22, 2026, aimed at increasing security of supply in the energy sector while strengthening the resilience of the economy. The Commission indicated that the plan is a response to rising energy prices and the associated uncertainty for businesses and consumers. The aviation sector is particularly in focus with the new measures.
ADV calls for support for aviation
The airport association ADV welcomed the EU Commission’s initiative and emphasized the need for a coordinated approach to monitoring jet fuel supply, as stated. Ralph Beisel, Managing Director of ADV, expressed a positive view on the planned measures and stressed that a European system for monitoring available jet fuel stocks is necessary: „A coordinated European system for monitoring available jet fuel stocks is right and necessary – this is not alarmism, but a reflection of commercial prudence,“ said Beisel.
