As part of a new project, KS Groupe has initiated the construction of a cold logistics platform for the company Stef in the Port du Rhin industrial area in Strasbourg. The planned area of 15,500 m² will provide storage capacity for 10,000 pallets. The cold storage will maintain temperatures between 2 and 4 °C, while a temperature-controlled area is planned to be between 14 and 18 °C.
Environmentally friendly construction
KS Groupe, a multidisciplinary general contractor with 450 employees across twelve subsidiaries based in Bischheim near Strasbourg, is focusing on sustainable materials for this project. This includes construction materials from the deconstruction industry, low-carbon concrete, and recycled steel. According to company information, a photovoltaic system will be installed on the roof, which is expected to cover more than 30% of the site’s annual electricity needs and even up to 100% during the summer months. The cooling systems will be equipped with energy-efficient devices and will operate exclusively with natural refrigerants.
Long-standing collaboration
The new cold logistics platform will expand Stef’s logistical capacity in the Upper Rhine Valley, which serves as a hub for European supply flows. This project marks the seventh collaboration between KS Groupe and Stef, who have already completed several buildings in the French region of Grand Est, including in Strasbourg, Bischheim, Metz, Burnhaupt-le-Bas, and Woippy.
On April 10, 2026, the groundbreaking ceremony for the new platform took place. On this occasion, Gaelle Schauner from the Port of Strasbourg, Stef’s Property Director Vincent Kirklar, and Edouard Sauer, President of KS Groupe, emphasized the shared vision and trust that both companies place in this technical project. The platform will not only meet logistical requirements but will also comply with high environmental standards and has been awarded the BREEAM certificate in the „Very Good“ category.
