Apr 10, 2026 at 7:52 AMThe technology group Wärtsilä has announced that its platform „GEMS Pulse“ has been awarded the „CleanTech Analytics Innovation Award.“ This award is presented as part of the annual „CleanTech Breakthrough Awards,“ established by the market intelligence organization CleanTech Breakthrough. The accolade recognizes companies that demonstrate outstanding achievements in the field of climate and clean technology, as stated by Wärtsilä.
„GEMS Pulse“ is a component of Wärtsilä’s „GEMS platform“ and provides control and optimization solutions for grid-scale energy storage as well as hybrid energy systems. The technology is based on the analysis of over one million data points per second, sourced from more than 9 GWh of operational energy storage.
Technological foundations and benefits
The development of „GEMS Pulse“ is supported by an internal team of battery researchers and a laboratory in the USA. This laboratory validates the behavior of energy storage systems from the cell to the system level. „GEMS Pulse“ offers automated state-of-charge calibration, supported by the GEMS Power Plant Controller (PPC). According to the manufacturer, these features contribute to measurement accuracy that enables reliable estimation of the state of charge (SoC), early anomaly detection, and optimization of the lifecycle.
