Apr 7, 2026 at 2:19 PMThe Prince Rupert Port Authority (PRPA) has appointed Kurt Slocombe as the new President and Chief Executive Officer. This decision follows an international search that began in October 2025.
Experience and Commitment to the Region
Peter Lantin, Chair of the Board of the PRPA, commented on the appointment, emphasizing that Slocombe possesses strong leadership qualities as well as extensive knowledge and experience to lead the organization at a time when the Port of Prince Rupert plays a significant role in Canadian trade. Lantin highlighted that Slocombe’s understanding of port operations and his long-standing commitment to the Prince Rupert community qualify him to lead the team.
Kurt Slocombe himself also commented on his appointment, stressing the importance of the port to the people of Prince Rupert as well as to communities and businesses across the country. He looks forward to working with his team and partners to build on the work already accomplished.
Slocombe has been with the PRPA since 2019 and previously served as Vice President of Operations, Planning, and Infrastructure. He brings extensive experience in gateway operations. Since 2007, he has lived with his family in Prince Rupert and was part of the team that commenced operations at the newly renovated Fairview Container Terminal. During his time at the terminal, he held various positions, including Operations Manager and Director of the Gateway Operations Centre, a joint venture between DP World and CN.
