Mar 26, 2026 at 10:29 AMThe shipping company UECC has significantly reduced its CO₂ emissions in 2025 and is getting closer to its goal of a 45% reduction by 2030. A total of 154,468 t of CO₂ have been saved, primarily through the increased use of BioLNG in the fuel mix.
The share of alternative energies remained stable at around 42%, but the proportion of bioLNG in LNG consumption increased significantly. This programme is considered a key factor in the improved environmental performance.
UECC currently operates 16 ships, including several dual-fuel and multi-fuel units, and is further expanding its fleet. New ships are set to be delivered starting in 2028. At the same time, the company is investing in energy efficiency, for example through digital route planning and optimised maintenance activities.
In addition to technical measures, UECC also sees regulatory challenges. Different regional regulations could complicate implementation. Stronger coordination is considered crucial for further progress in decarbonisation.
