Mar 26, 2026 at 9:20 AMUPS opened its largest and most advanced logistics center in the Asia-Pacific region on March 25, 2026. The Taoyuan International Logistics Center (TILC) in Taiwan spans over 81,000 square meters, effectively doubling UPS’s storage capacity in Taiwan. The new center is equipped with modern automation technology that can significantly enhance customer productivity.
The TILC is located just 5 kilometers from Taoyuan International Airport (TPE), the largest cargo airport in Taiwan. With 22 weekly flights from UPS between TPE and other destinations worldwide, a fast connection to UPS’s global network is ensured. Lauren Zhao, President of UPS Asia Pacific Supply Chain Solutions and Freight Forwarding, emphasizes Taiwan’s importance for global supply chains, particularly in semiconductor production and value-added sectors such as medical technology.
The logistics center has been developed to meet the changing needs of customers. It aims to increase productivity and efficiency while enhancing flexibility for future challenges. An example of the TILC’s utilization is Applied Materials, which uses the center as a continental distribution hub for Asia. Erix Yu, Group Vice President and President of Applied Materials Taiwan, highlights that the TILC provides a scalable and automation-capable logistics base that supports the company’s growth in the region.
UPS invested nearly $100 million in the TILC. Notable features include autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) programmed for tasks such as picking and inventory management. The use of these robots leads to significant productivity gains. A customer order at the TILC can be processed and packaged approximately 40% faster than before. Additionally, customers can double the number of products stored in the same space on conventional shelves. Errors in picking are reduced to nearly zero.
Zhao adds that the use of AMRs can lead to a doubling of productivity, greatly enhancing the customer experience. The faster orders are processed, the quicker customers can respond to their own customers‘ demands, increasing satisfaction.
The opening of the TILC is part of a series of investments by UPS in its network in the Asia-Pacific region aimed at supporting businesses in their growth and enabling seamless goods flow across borders. UPS offers a comprehensive portfolio of logistics, digital, and supply chain solutions in Taiwan, delivering to over 200 countries and territories worldwide within just one business day.
