Hong Kong’s air freight carriers groan
Mar 19, 2026 at 12:14 PMThe German TX Logistik AG, a company of the Italian FS Logistix, and Nurminen Logistics have launched a new weekly service between Italy and Sweden. The connection spans approximately 2,500 km and runs from Castelguelfo in the northern Italian province of Parma to Frövi in the central Swedish region of Örebro. This new route, which started at the end of February 2026, is part of the expansion of TX Logistik’s activities in European rail freight transport along the north-south axis.
Efficient transport solution between two countries
The new service is operated as a block train for Nurminen Logistics and enables a fast transit time between the two countries. The trains are typically over 500 m long and mainly transport containers with food, beverages, tiles, pulp, wood, paper, and steel, as well as other goods. The connection between Castelguelfo and Frövi represents the longest continuous corridor in TX Logistik’s European network.
Sabrina De Filippis, CEO of FS Logistix, emphasizes the importance of this connection: “The local expertise of our teams in five countries meets cross-border collaboration. With this new route, we not only contribute to strengthening trade relations between Italy and Sweden but also send a strong signal for international connectivity.”
Olli Pohjanvirta, CEO of Nurminen Logistics, highlights that the transit time of about two to three days offers a fast and more environmentally friendly alternative to long-distance road transport between the two countries. “By combining a dedicated block train with the flexibility to transport partial loads, we can provide reliable and low-emission transport for a broader customer base, including retail,” explains Pohjanvirta.
Historical significance of the Frövi station
Frövi has played an important role as a Scandinavian railway hub since the 19th century. Loading takes place in Sweden on Thursdays and in Castelguelfo on Mondays. The northern route runs from Castelguelfo via Chiasso, Basel, Hamburg, Padborg, the Öresund Bridge, and Malmö to Frövi. Mercitalia Rail operates the service from Castelguelfo to Chiasso, while TX Logistik provides traction from Chiasso to Frövi with modern multi-system locomotives. The entire journey takes about two days and passes through Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Denmark, and Sweden.
