Jun 25, 2026 at 12:37 PMGlasgow Prestwick Airport (PIK) has appointed Jules Matteoni (r.) as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), who will take up his position on July 1, 2026. Matteoni succeeds Ian Forgie, who is retiring after five years in office. Matteoni brings over 33 years of experience at the Scottish airport, most recently as Operations Director, and has significantly contributed to the development of PIK as a major UK hub for international freight and e-commerce traffic.
In an initial statement, Matteoni expressed optimism about future collaboration with the airport team: „I look forward to building on the progress we have made together.“ He emphasized the intention to strengthen existing markets and pursue new business opportunities arising from the airport’s strategic location within the UK supply chain.
The decision to appoint Matteoni followed a comprehensive recruitment process supported by the board and an external recruitment consultancy. Dr. Willie Mackie CBE, Chairman of the airport, highlighted Matteoni’s long-standing affiliation and the respect he enjoys in the aviation industry. Mackie stressed that Matteoni’s leadership has been crucial for the development of the e-commerce business, which has transformed the airport’s freight operations.
Forgie, who became CEO in March 2021, led a significant expansion of the airport’s freight operations. Under his leadership, over 33 million e-commerce packages were processed last year, regular freight flights were established between Scotland and mainland China, and 1,500 tons of Scottish salmon were exported.
Matteoni announced his appointment during Air Cargo China in Shanghai, where the airport is exhibiting and engaging with partners from the aviation, freight, and logistics sectors to strengthen existing relationships and develop new business opportunities.
