Mar 17, 2026 at 12:10 PMCold-Link Logistics has announced a significant expansion of its cold storage facility in Providence, Rhode Island. The U.S. company, which ranks among the top ten privately held cold chain providers in North America, plans to substantially enlarge the existing facility in North Kingstown. The investment includes the creation of 6,000 square meters of additional freezer space to meet the growing regional demand for high-quality and energy-efficient cold storage.
Upon completion of the expansion, the total area of the facility will be nearly 12,000 square meters. The new capacity will include 13,500 additional pallet positions for frozen goods, more than tripling the total on-site capacity to 18,000 pallets. Planned renovations include the installation of a more efficient cooling system and the expansion of the loading dock from 14 to 17 positions. Additionally, a new fire protection system will be installed. As part of the project, 280 square meters of the current storage space will be repurposed to create additional freezing capacity. The expansion of the rail-connected facility in Providence aims to serve over 15 million consumers in nearby metropolitan areas, support existing customers in the Quonset Business Park, attract larger tenants, and contribute to regional economic development through job creation.
Michael Mandich, President and Managing Partner of Cold-Link, commented on the plans: “This expansion underscores our confidence in Cold-Link Logistics‘ ability to meet the growing demand for high-quality cold storage driven by changing supply chain requirements.” He emphasized the important role of the Providence facility in the company’s northeastern network, which serves a variety of customers. “By nearly doubling our capacity and modernizing our infrastructure, we are positioning Cold-Link to continue providing reliable services in the future.”
Nick Mandich, Partner at Cold-Link, added: “This expansion represents a significant step in Cold-Link’s growth strategy and allows us to offer our customers greater capacity, efficiency, and service quality. We are grateful for the support of our partners at Slate Asset Management and the Quonset Development Corporation, who have been instrumental in bringing this long-planned project to fruition.”
Construction for the expansion and renovation is set to begin in the first quarter of 2026, with an expected completion in early 2027.
