Jun 17, 2026 at 1:41 PMRhenus Road Freight has received approval for the construction of a new transshipment center in Dortmund. The completion and commissioning of the facility are scheduled for 2027. The new location will replace the existing Road Freight site in Unna and is strategically positioned to provide direct access to north-south and east-west transport corridors, as the company reports.
Already started
The planning of the new transshipment center has been designed by Rhenus to enable more efficient and secure operations. The facility will cover an area of approximately 30,000 m², which is already being prepared for construction. Initial demolition and earthworks are already underway. The new transshipment hall will be equipped with about 11,000 m² of transshipment area and around 100 loading gates. This infrastructure is intended to support flexible cross-docking processes and ensure a smooth flow of materials.
„Through complete in-house planning and implementation, we can align infrastructure, processes, and safety standards precisely with our operational requirements while simultaneously securing the location for the long term.“
– Thilo Meutzner, Managing Director Road Freight at Rhenus
