New freight connection Oslo-Shanghai launched
Feb 3, 2026 at 4:39 PMThe Uzbek airline Fly Khiva has launched a new cargo flight connection linking Europe, Central Asia, and the Asia-Pacific region. The first flight took place on January 25. The new services will be offered four times a week, including three weekly flights on the Riga–Karaganda–Hong Kong route and one weekly flight via Riga–Tashkent–Hong Kong. This initiative is supported by partners such as Riga Airport, Latvijas Pasts, and the Latvian Embassy in Uzbekistan.
Riga as a Regional Air Freight and Customs Center
The new route is part of an e-commerce export service initiated by Latvijas Pasts. This positions Riga as a regional air freight and customs center. The postal service provider handles customs clearance and the redistribution of online purchases from Asia to Central and Northern Europe. At the same time, return freight opportunities for exports to Asia are created. In the first month, nearly 250 tons of e-commerce cargo were processed.
This initiative shortens transit times, supports the transport of perishable goods and urgent items, and strengthens Riga’s role in air freight and cross-border e-commerce logistics in Eurasia.
