Leadership change at ID Logistics Benelux
Jan 30, 2026 at 10:32 AMThe condition of the freight railway in Spain has dramatically deteriorated in recent weeks, according to the federation FETEIA-OLTRA. This has prompted them to call for an urgent structural response. A particularly striking example of the issues is the shutdown of the Rubí Tunnel, which is seen as a sign of the lack of institutional interest in promoting freight transport.
FETEIA-OLTRA has urged all stakeholders in the logistics sector to advocate for an immediate and coordinated solution to ensure the continuity and reliability of freight transport. According to a statement from January 29, 2026, the federation expresses its concerns about the current state of the freight railway on its social media under the hashtag #SinLogísticaNoHayIndustria. The problems are not viewed as isolated cases but as part of a broader structural issue that the freight transport sector has been criticizing for years and which is now showing tangible effects at the European level.
The situation has further escalated in recent days. Freight transport has nearly come to a standstill, international transport flows have been interrupted, and there are no clear forecasts for a resumption of operations. This has already led to blockages in production chains in countries like Germany and Belgium. In January, of the 250 international trains scheduled from Barcelona, only about thirty were actually carried out, according to FETEIA-OLTRA.
