Balance 2022: Gebrüder Weiss Continues to Grow
Mar 14, 2023 at 3:10 PMDespite the tense overall economic situation, Panattoni, the leading project developer for industrial and logistics properties in Europe, has recorded a positive start to the new year. In addition to the realization of its first project in the Austrian market and a personnel increase of nearly 10 percent in Germany and Austria, a variety of construction projects with a volume of over 615,000 m² of property space are planned for the first and second quarters.
(Hamburg) With the City Dock Mannheim and Sindelfingen, two construction starts in the area of business park development are immediately on the horizon. A focus of the realizations, alongside an intensive dialogue with municipalities and immediate users, is on compliance with ESG sustainability criteria. Panattoni is advancing its European growth course with its market entry into Denmark.
At the opening of the international real estate trade fair MIPIM (Marché International des Professionnels de l’immobilier) on March 14, 2023, in France, Panattoni looks back on a successful start to the new year. The company is developing the Panattoni Park Graz Süd in Leibnitz, its first project in Austria since entering the market in 2022. The modern technology and business park is being created with a focus on the local economy of Styria and sets new standards for sustainable project development and energy supply in the commercial real estate sector, among other things through the use of a biomass power plant.
In the German market, Panattoni has a well-filled project pipeline with a total volume of over 615,000 m² of property space. Currently, the developer is realizing, among other things, a build-to-suit (BTS) project for the Fressnapf Group in Neuruppin, Brandenburg, a distribution center for the family-owned company Dachser SE in Rottenburg, Baden-Württemberg, as well as a new logistics location for the Kühne+Nagel Group in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
Panattoni is also vigorously advancing the innovative business parks based on the “City Dock” concept and is currently constructing two urban business parks at the locations of Mannheim and Sindelfingen (both in Baden-Württemberg). The construction start for both projects is imminent.
“Despite the adverse circumstances due to the Ukraine conflict, inflation and its effects on interest rates, as well as the energy crisis, we have succeeded in starting 2023 at Panattoni. As the largest developer in the German and European markets, we currently have a multitude of projects with good customers and partners. To continue providing our usual level of service and to grow despite the persistently high dynamics, our team in Germany and Austria has grown by 10 percent in recent months. Because we have a lot planned for the rest of the year and want to support companies and municipalities in their optimization and growth with innovative and sustainably constructed projects,” says Fred-Markus Bohne, Managing Partner at Panattoni Germany and Austria.
As part of its business development, Panattoni focuses on compliance with ESG sustainability criteria at the corporate level as well as in its real estate projects, alongside an intensive municipal dialogue. To this end, the company has established its own expert group and developed, among other things, a Green Building concept as a blueprint for the ecologically sustainable construction of its real estate projects. In addition to refraining from climate-damaging fossil energy sources and the future exclusive use of air heat pumps, the developer focuses on the recycling of components according to the cradle-to-cradle method and on brownfield development to avoid or reduce new sealing of land. Since 2022, the company has been supporting the German Brownfield Association in developing Germany’s first brownfield cadastre.
Meanwhile, Panattoni is advancing its pan-European growth course with its entry into the Danish market under the leadership of Managing Director Denmark Jacob Widahl in March 2023. In Northern Europe, the developer recently established a new location in Sweden and made the largest land transaction to date in the Swedish market. In Europe, Panattoni is now represented in a total of 34 countries.
