(ZurichMigros Online is building a new state-of-the-art distribution center in Regensdorf. Today, the groundbreaking was officially performed by Katrin Tschannen, CEO of Migros Online, and Stefan Marty, mayor of Regensdorf. The new warehouse will enable the increasing number of online purchases to be handled quickly and efficiently. It also provides the opportunity to deliver to the Zurich urban area directly and on the same day.
In the Migros Online distribution center in Regensdorf, 21,000 items can be stored and around 7,500 orders processed daily. The new site extends over four floors and has a total area of 38,000 m². The new Migros Online distribution center enables optimized processes in the warehouse and creates attractive and ergonomically designed workplaces. The completion of the building is planned for 2026.
Deliveries to the warehouse are possible by rail transport, and in the future, CO2 emissions can be further reduced through fewer truck transports and shorter delivery routes to households. The shipping of refrigerated products will be done in special reusable containers with water-based cooling packs, which require less energy. Additionally, a state-of-the-art photovoltaic system will be implemented in Regensdorf, producing around 646,000 kWh/year on an area of over 3,000 m² (equivalent to the annual energy needs of 185 four-person households).
Sustainable and Faster Order Processing
“The new warehouse in Regensdorf not only enables a more sustainable processing of online orders but also faster delivery times for our customers. At the same time, we are creating around 500 attractive jobs in a technically up-to-date environment. I am very pleased that we can now start construction,” said Katrin Tschannen, CEO of Migros Online.
