Arvato Supply Chain Solutions Opens New Location in Memphis
Jan 27, 2023 at 1:05 PMNew property for even better supply: GREIWING logistics for you GmbH is building a new logistics center in the Rheinmünster Chemical Park on approximately 16,500 square meters. The family-owned company from Greven is responsible for the end product storage management, including warehouse logistics with raw materials, packaging materials, and finished goods such as superabsorbents or latex, for chemical companies Evonik Superabsorber GmbH and Trinseo Deutschland Anlagengesellschaft mbH.
(Greven/Rheinmünster) The new logistics center significantly reduces traffic congestion around the chemical park. The general contractor is GOLDBECK Nord GmbH, with whom GREIWING has successfully realized construction projects for years. The commissioning of the property is planned for December 2023.
“With our new logistics center in close proximity to our customers, we can ensure even better supply for their production and optimally integrate into the long history of the chemical park,” says Jürgen Greiwing, Managing Partner of GREIWING logistics for you GmbH. The new property will be approximately 6,600 square meters in size and will provide space for 15,500 pallet spaces. This gives the new logistics center sufficient capacity for Evonik Superabsorber GmbH and Trinseo Deutschland Anlagengesellschaft mbH, which is also the operator of the chemical park, as well as for other customers. As part of the project, the Greven family business supports the regional economy. Ten new employees will be hired for the planned commissioning of the logistics center, with the number expected to triple in the future.
The reliability, which is an important aspect for Evonik Superabsorber’s customers in their collaboration, is also increasing. The service portfolio also includes the incoming goods, storage, and outgoing goods of palletized goods as well as Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBC). In the future, there will be 500 meters between the production halls of the two chemical companies and the logistics center, and a shuttle service will be established. Currently, Evonik Superabsorber and Trinseo still rely on a warehouse of another service provider located over 30 kilometers away for their goods. “By having our location directly in the Rheinmünster Chemical Park, we significantly reduce the distances for shuttle transports, allowing our customers to respond more flexibly to changes in demand, and the infrastructure will be relieved,” says Greiwing.
The new logistics center is being realized by the Karlsruhe branch of the construction and service company GOLDBECK, with whom GREIWING is building together for the eighth time. “We are a well-coordinated team due to the previous projects and trust in GOLDBECK’s expertise and experience,” says Greiwing. For this reason, the conception and comprehensive planning across all disciplines were carried out by GOLDBECK. The general contractor provides all services from assembly to execution and hands over the building turnkey to GREIWING. Until then, approximately 3,500 cubic meters of concrete, 350 tons of steel, and 6,000 square meters of facade elements will be installed, as well as a photovoltaic system.
GOLDBECK project manager Max Schmittel states that the project is fully on schedule and attributes this to the constructive collaboration: “We appreciate the pleasant and goal-oriented cooperation with GREIWING, which is also reflected in this construction project.”
Peter Dettelmann, Managing Director of Evonik Superabsorber GmbH, says: “We at Evonik Superabsorber welcome the short distances and the photovoltaic system, as sustainability is also of great importance to us as a company in logistics.”
