VDR on EU Emissions Trading for Shipping
Dec 1, 2022 at 2:32 PMThe Trusted Carrier of the Federal Association of Freight Transport, Logistics and Disposal (BGL) e.V. is being further professionalized with the market launch of digital solutions developed for the chemical industry: Following the commissioning of the takeover of the digital system of Trusted Carrier GmbH & Co. KG by BASF for their truck processing at the main location in Ludwigshafen, Stephan Strauss takes over as CEO of the start-up company. Further development steps of the cloud-based system to optimize the data flow between transport companies and shippers are imminent.
(Frankfurt) The Trusted Carrier (TC), newly formed by BGL in mid-2021, has achieved its first goals: Together with experienced software partners, renowned partners from the chemical industry, and medium-sized transport companies focusing on chemical logistics, a bundle of logistical services has been developed that enables the exchange of quality-assured logistics data between all links in the transport chain. This makes logistical processes more efficient and cost-effective. In particular, the conditions have been created to reduce time- and cost-intensive standstill and waiting times for the benefit of both the transporters and the shippers. The system developed by TC has been tested for its practicality and reliability during a trial phase with industry partners and has continuously undergone expansions and optimizations during this process.
The developed software has been certified as market-ready by BASF, which, after successfully completing the trial phase, decided to implement the “Chemical Trusted Carrier” at its headquarters in Ludwigshafen for the processing of thousands of trucks daily. Since October of this year, entries to the BASF site have been taking place via electronic identification and authentication of drivers and vehicles, without the drivers needing to leave their vehicles.
More than 30 Years of Experience
The new CEO, Stephan Strauss, has 30 years of experience in building, growing, and transforming B2B service companies in the logistics, distribution & wholesale, electronics, and technology sectors. In CEO and various management roles, he has worked for leading companies such as DB Schenker Rail, Rexel, ThyssenKrupp, and Philips Electronics worldwide.
“We are pursuing a clear growth strategy with two focuses: acquiring customers and transport partners for digital access control in the chemical and other industries, both nationally and internationally. And: further development into a comprehensive platform for transport management on the last mile – open, collaborative, universal,” says Stephan Strauss.
New Tasks for the Previous Managing Directors
The new CEO replaces the managing directors Hans Maier-Dech and Andreas Schmidt. “Mr. Maier-Dech and Mr. Schmidt deserve heartfelt thanks for their foundational and developmental work at TC,” says Strauss. The new leadership of the Trusted Carrier is pleased that both will remain closely connected to the company in the future: Hans Maier-Dech in an advisory role, Andreas Schmidt in a new role in business development.
