Sep 8, 2021 at 5:35 PMThe Ambassador of Australia, Philip Green, visited the intralogistics expert SSI Schäfer at the international headquarters in Neunkirchen/Siegerland last Thursday, invited by Volkmar Klein, a member of the German Bundestag. The aim was to bring the companies of both countries closer together and to promote productive exchange.
(Neunkirchen) Ambassador Philip Green and Member of Parliament Volkmar Klein were impressed by the innovative strength and traditional values of the family-owned company SSI Schäfer. As a globally operating leading solution provider of modular storage and logistics systems, SSI Schäfer has been active in the Asia-Pacific region and particularly in the Australian market for decades, equipping companies from various industries with individual storage systems and highly automated solutions.
The high growth rates of the region and the ongoing e-commerce boom, further accelerated by the Corona pandemic, are also leading to a steadily increasing demand in Australia for high-performance logistics solutions and well-trained professionals who realize, operate, and maintain the storage systems.
The shortage of skilled workers was also discussed
Against this backdrop, the increasing shortage of skilled workers was also discussed. Ambassador Philip Green is particularly interested in the model of dual vocational training. He would like to adapt this stronger practical orientation for the Australian market. Steffen Bersch, CEO, and Bruno Krauss, CFO of the SSI Schäfer Group, welcomed the joint exchange and opportunities for collaboration, as SSI Schäfer is continuously looking for competent personnel in Australia due to strong demand.
Trial run for dual training in Australia
Specifically, the conversation discussed designing a concept for a trial run of dual training at SSI Schäfer in Australia to actively shape the next steps for future requirements. As the chairman of the German-Pacific Parliamentary Group in the German Bundestag, Volkmar Klein advocates for even more intensive collaboration. “Australia can be an important market for German companies. The experiences of SSI Schäfer show how much potential lies in the region. It is an important sign that SSI Schäfer wants to intensify its activities on site.” CEO Steffen Bersch added: “We will continue to expand our international business in the Asia-Pacific region and look forward to a close and long-term collaboration with the Australian Embassy to promote dual training and beyond.”
