Jul 6, 2026 at 11:21 AMAs Yusen Logistics announced just last week, the Japanese company opened its new European regional headquarters, Yusen Logistics Global Management (Europe) N.V. (YLGM-EUR), in Antwerp (Belgium) on June 9, 2026. This move is intended to reaffirm its long-term commitment to the European market and establishes a central base in one of Europe’s leading logistics hubs.
From Amsterdam to Antwerp
The new headquarters serves as a central point for Yusen Logistics‘ European activities and employs around 140 staff. The relocation of the regional office from Schiphol (Amsterdam) to Antwerp reflects the company’s long-term vision for Europe and underscores the strategic importance of positioning itself in the heart of a significant logistics landscape. Antwerp offers excellent connectivity via roads, rail, inland waterways, and maritime routes. The proximity to the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, one of the largest and strategically most important ports in Europe, enhances the city’s role as a gateway to international trade.
The choice of Antwerp also holds special significance for the parent company NYK Group, to which Yusen Logistics belongs. Several companies within the NYK Group, including NYK Bulkship (Atlantic) NV and International Car Operators N.V. (ICO), are already based in the Port of Antwerp. The proximity of Yusen Logistics‘ European headquarters to these sister companies is intended to improve internal collaboration and strengthen integrated logistics solutions. These closer ties to affiliated companies enable a more seamless service delivery for customers and leverage Antwerp’s robust logistics infrastructure for greater efficiency in global supply chains.
Focus on growth and collaboration
Hiroki Harada, CEO of Yusen Logistics Global Management Co., Ltd., emphasized the importance of the new location during the opening ceremony:
“Today’s opening is an important step for Yusen Logistics in Europe. Establishing our European headquarters in Antwerp reflects our confidence in the European market and our commitment to supporting our customers through a strong, connected, and future-oriented organization.”
For the leadership of Yusen Logistics Europe, the new headquarters is more than just a change of location. It aims to foster collaboration among countries, functions, and business units. This unified center will help the company better respond to customer needs and further strengthen its network in Europe.
Minoru Futonaka, Managing Director of YLGM-EUR, added:
“The new headquarters will play an important role in the future development of our European organization. It creates an environment where our teams can work more closely together, share expertise, and build a strong, connected organization that is ready for the future.”
Bruno Jacques, Deputy Managing Director of YLGM-EUR, stated:
“Antwerp offers a unique combination of connectivity, logistics expertise, and international business opportunities. We are proud to establish our European headquarters here and look forward to contributing to the growth and success of the dynamic logistics community in Antwerp.”
