AD Ports Group launches joint venture in Jordan
Jun 19, 2026 at 9:29 AMRecently, the first large-scale installation under the „RegenPorts Program“ was inaugurated at the Port of Barcelona. This program, initiated by the BCN Port Innovation Foundation, aims to connect economic activities with the renewal of the marine environment. The installation is intended to demonstrate that ports are not only economic centers but can also actively contribute to biodiversity and innovation, as stated by the port.
Integration of marine regeneration
RegenPorts develops solutions that, according to the port, are tailored to the specific conditions of various port environments. The program follows a model that enables marine regeneration in port settings. Technical, scientific, and operational guarantees would be employed to ensure that the developed solutions are measurable, scalable, and replicable. An operational protocol and an insurance framework are intended to ensure the coexistence of regenerative solutions with port activities. This protects participating companies from liabilities that could arise from potential damages or disruptions to port operations.
A three-tier validation system, encompassing technical, scientific, and operational aspects, complements this approach according to the port. It aims to ensure the functionality of the technologies, enable independent validation by research institutions, and assess the feasibility of deployment in the context of an operational port.
