Almost a year ago, Kühne + Nagel reached a milestone: In mid-June 2025, the 111th flight from Stuttgart to the USA was celebrated. This connection, which began operations on April 2, 2023, served the route from Stuttgart to Birmingham, Alabama, on a weekly basis. The Boeing 747-800F has since transported around 14,000 tons of cargo.
After more than three years of regular service, a Boeing 747-8 F from Atlas Air, operating on behalf of the logistics company Kühne + Nagel, landed in Stuttgart for the last time on May 31, 2026. The logistics provider has decided to handle the connection via Frankfurt Airport in the future.
The Boeing 747-8 F, registered as N862GT and N863GT, is among the last of its kind, as production of this model was discontinued in February 2022. The jumbo jet was notable not only for its size but also because it was often one of the last examples ever built to land in Baden-Württemberg.
The relocation of flights to Frankfurt is likely to impact logistics and freight traffic in the region, as Stuttgart now loses an important international freight provider.
