SBB restructures freight transport
May 19, 2026 at 9:44 AMThe French subsidiary of the ECS Group, Globe Air Cargo (GAC) France, is celebrating a 30-year partnership with Air China this year. During this time, the leading General Sales and Service Agent (GSSA) and China’s national airline have developed an extensive cargo portfolio on significant trade routes.
Jean Ceccaldi, Managing Director of the ECS Group, emphasizes the remarkable development of Air China over the past three decades: “When the partnership with Globe Air Cargo France was signed in 1996, Air China did not yet operate its own aircraft to France. Instead, there was an agreement for cargo capacities on the passenger and cargo flights of Air France to China.” Ceccaldi highlights that Air China’s cargo business developed rapidly, and Globe Air Cargo France supported the launch of the subsidiary Air China Cargo in 2003. “The result today is a solid relationship based on trust, a shared vision for excellence and growth, and a strong brand of Air China Cargo in France and Europe.”
Expanded responsibility and market adaptation
Franck Tordjman, Managing Director of Globe Air Cargo France, explains the company’s current tasks: “Our responsibility extends beyond the daily passenger flights from Paris Charles de Gaulle to Beijing and the weekly operations to Chengdu. We also ensure optimal load factors for the daily cargo flights of Air China Cargo from Amsterdam, Frankfurt, and Liège.” Tordjman emphasizes that the goal is always to maximize cargo sales and meet market demand for capacities. “Over the years, we have maintained excellent working relationships with all cargo managers of Air China Cargo, and this collaboration has produced impressive results. The operational and commercial strength of Globe Air has allowed us to offer a service that is unmatched compared to our competitors.”
Currently, Air China Cargo operates twelve weekly passenger flights from Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) to Beijing (PEK), primarily using Boeing 777 aircraft and two Airbus A350s. Additionally, there is an A350 service between Paris CDG and Chengdu (TFU). Over the past fifteen years, daily cargo flights from Frankfurt, Amsterdam, and Liège have been added to the flight schedule. The current fleet includes 24 cargo aircraft, including a growing number of Boeing 777 freighters, three Boeing 747 freighters, and eight A330-200/P2F conversions. Six A350 freighters are expected to be operational by 2029.
