MSC: Captain hands over leadership
Apr 13, 2026 at 3:13 PMLocus Robotics has announced the launch of „Locus Array,“ a new automated picking system based on a combination of mobile robotics, an integrated picking robotic arm, and AI-driven perception. This system aims to enhance efficiency in order fulfillment and reduce manual labor, as stated by the company. Implementation in North America has already begun, while the company plans to introduce it in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.
Efficiency increase through automation
According to the manufacturer, Locus Array enables parallel processing of orders and consolidates work directly in the aisle. This leads to increased throughput and allows for continuous operation around the clock. The autonomous execution includes various workflows, including picking, storage, feeding, outbound, placement, and replenishment. According to Locus Robotics, manual effort can be reduced by up to 90% through the use of this system.
The implementation of Locus Array is expected to occur within a few weeks, without the need for extensive redesigns of existing facilities. This is intended to ensure faster value creation with minimal disruptions. Additionally, the system can adapt to dynamic environments. Changes in layouts, item numbers, and demand can be accommodated without reworking workflows.
