Austrian Post Seeks Ideas for Tomorrow’s Package Packaging
Jun 13, 2022 at 7:45 PMSWAN GmbH draws a positive conclusion after three intensive days at LogiMAT 2022. The focus of SWAN’s trade fair appearance was the in-house SAP EWM add-on “SWAN 3D-Logistics Cockpit.” The “Digital Twin” solution for SAP EWM enables intuitive interaction with inventory and movement data in logistics. Additionally, the SWAN SAP S/4HANA migration projects with SAP EWM components and SAP EWM projects with automated material flow also piqued the interest of visitors.
(Stuttgart) After more than two years of pandemic-related forced pause, logistics expert SWAN is pleased with a successful LogiMAT. From May 31 to June 1, the trade fair for intralogistics and process management welcomed around 50,000 visitors to its halls. SWAN is thoroughly satisfied – both in terms of visitor numbers and individual contacts: In addition to existing customers, SWAN was able to welcome many new interested parties, logistics planners, and SAP partner companies at their booth. There was particularly high demand in the business areas of SAP TM and EWM. Here, the project house for SAP logistics recorded many new contacts and inquiries that promise exciting projects and collaborations. The SAP S/4HANA migration projects with SAP EWM components from SWAN, as well as their SAP EWM projects with automated material flow, also attracted considerable interest.
SWAN 3D-Logistics Cockpit
A clear highlight of SWAN’s trade fair appearance: their in-house and continuously developed SWAN 3D-Logistics Cockpit. It creates a virtual 3D representation of the warehouse using existing data from SAP EWM. This “Digital Twin” offers a realistic depiction of inventories and warehouse structures in real-time. This significantly eases the tasks for users in the control center and minimizes complex, error-prone warehouse processes. Control is completely intuitive thanks to the realistic 3D interface based on SAPUI5. Users can easily create warehouse tasks via drag-and-drop. Relationships are easily recognizable due to the connection of structural warehouse layouts, shelves, and current inventory and storage location data in a three-dimensional space. The capture of process deviations thus occurs very quickly. Various location and tracking solutions can also be integrated into virtual reality for asset and resource tracking. The SWAN 3D-Logistics Cockpit can be integrated as a Fiori application into any SAP EWM system and can be easily retrofitted into existing installations.
SAP Logistics for Automated Warehouses
SWAN also offers a comprehensive portfolio of SAP logistics applications to optimize the digitization and automation of warehouse processes. Particularly thanks to the merger with SSI Schäfer – but also with a broad partner network of other providers for warehouse automation and robotics – SWAN can always offer the best option from various solution possibilities.
At LogiMAT 2022, the high demand for integrative SAP solutions such as pallet planning and the SWAN 3D picking workstation for cartons, as well as the SAPUI5 solution portfolio for various workplace scenarios, was particularly noticeable.
Overall, there is also a recognizable trend towards new logistics facilities with automation in Europe. Difficulties with global supply chains, as seen recently with the blockage of the Panama Canal or the lockdown in Shanghai, are driving this development forward.
In conjunction with asset tracking solutions from their partners, SWAN also creates added value by connecting manual logistics activities with automated systems. A possible solution was demonstrated and made tangible by SWAN at LogiMAT – through live tracking of the trade fair staff at the booth.
“For us, it was not only of great importance to present our SAP solutions at the fair. It was especially nice to finally reconnect and engage in personal face-to-face conversations after such a long time,” summarizes Alexander Bernhard, Managing Director of SWAN: “I would like to thank everyone for the inspiring impulses from the logistics community, the open exchange, and the great commitment of our trade fair team on-site.”
