(Parkstein, 04.08.2020) The general contractor WITRON will take over the planning and execution for a new automated logistics center for the grocery retailer in Henstedt-Ulzburg.
With WITRON solutions OPM (Order Picking Machinery), DPS (Dynamic Picking System), CPS (Car Picking System), and DPP (Display Pallet Picking), up to 165,000 trade units can be commissioned for stores on a peak day. The 86,500 m2 facility will store over 12,000 different items from the dry and fresh assortment.
“The most important decision criteria for the investment decision were both economic and ecological aspects,” says Lars Siebel, Head of Logistics National / Supply Chain Management at REWE. “These include particularly high cost-effectiveness along the supply chain as well as the long-term assurance of excellent supply to our markets, even in times of crisis. Our sustainability strategy is also supported by further aspects – such as ergonomic workplaces, the reduction of CO2 emissions through optimally packed load carriers, and consequently the reduction of truck trips. Last but not least, the establishment of the storage and administrative site according to DGNB Gold Standards.”
