This agreement represents a significant step in the development of the new terminal, which is established as a joint venture between Hanseatic Global Terminals and Grupo Imetame.
Agreement for the equipment of the new terminal
The new terminal, officially established in June 2026, will be equipped with modern Ship-to-Shore (STS) cranes and Rubber-Tyred Gantry (RTG) cranes. This equipment is intended to lay the foundation for safe and efficient operations from day one. Dheeraj Bhatia, CEO of Hanseatic Global Terminals, emphasizes that the partnership with Grupo Imetame and SANY is crucial to creating the infrastructure and capacity needed to meet future demands and strengthen Aracruz’s position as an important logistics hub.
Gilson Pereira, Director of Grupo Imetame, highlights that the choice of SANY as the supplier for the terminal in Aracruz underscores the trust and credibility of the project. He emphasizes the importance of strong and long-term relationships based on safety, quality, and adherence to deadlines. The partnership aims to position Espírito Santo as an important port for international trade and to increase the capacity of Brazilian port operations.
Zhou Guoyuan, Chairman of SANY Marine, also comments on the agreement, highlighting the trust that Hanseatic Global Terminals and Grupo Imetame place in SANY’s technology and expertise. He emphasizes the significance of advanced crane solutions for the productive and reliable operations of the terminal.
Strategic importance of the terminal in Aracruz
The terminal in Aracruz is designed to be an important hub for regional import and export traffic as well as a transshipment point for international shipping services. By improving access to global trade routes and strengthening regional logistics connections, the terminal will play a central role in trade and international supply chains.
Investment in port infrastructure in Brazil is considered strategically important to enhance the country’s competitiveness in international trade. The terminal will be built on an area of over 1 million m² and is expected to handle various types of cargo and services, including containers, general cargo, bulk goods, and liquid cargo.
