British companies to benefit from India agreement
Jul 14, 2026 at 10:38 AMThe Colruyt Group and KION have established a partnership to advance the development of robotics solutions for supply chains. As part of this cooperation, the Colruyt Group has transferred 70% of its research and development activities in the field of autonomous forklifts to KION. This strategic decision positions KION as the preferred global partner of the Colruyt Group to develop and bring to market technologies for autonomous vehicles (SDV), as stated by the corporate group.
Focus on SDV applications
According to the Colruyt Group, the partnership aims to set new standards in logistics regarding efficiency, safety, and innovation. Both companies hope to maximize the potential of SDV applications through their collaboration. In 2023, the Colruyt Group, in collaboration with KION’s STILL brand, introduced its first self-driving forklift. According to the group, these developments are the result of years of research and close cooperation between the Colruyt Group’s innovation team and KION.
In the past two years, the autonomous STILL forklifts have reportedly operated in two distribution centers of the Colruyt Group. The software intelligence was developed and implemented by the Colruyt Group, while STILL was responsible for hardware integration.
