Jul 10, 2026 at 9:46 AMDACHSER recently inaugurated the expansion of its logistics center in Freiburg. The new location includes a refrigerated transshipment hall specifically designed for food logistics. At the same time, the space for industrial and consumer goods at the site has been expanded, as the company reports.
Infrastructure for food logistics
The central element of the investment is a transshipment hall with an area of approximately 3,200 m², designed for temperatures between 2 and 7 degrees Celsius. In this hall, various food products, including meat and sausage products, dairy products, wine, spirits, and baked goods, are transshipped. The new hall features 32 truck docks that facilitate loading and unloading processes. With this expansion, DACHSER’s Business Line Food Logistics is now also extending its activities to Freiburg. According to the company, it is active in food logistics in ten countries and serves a total of 34 countries through the „European Food Network.“ In 2025, the Business Line achieved total sales of 1.8 billion euros.
Additionally, during the construction work, the area for the transshipment of industrial goods was enlarged. This section of the new building covers 2,700 m² and is equipped with eight truck docks. According to DACHSER, the structural connection between the new and existing transshipment warehouses is intended to enable seamless integration of operations. The commissioning of the new infrastructure began in early June.
