Jul 8, 2026 at 2:14 PMGLS has announced the establishment of GLS Türkiye, a new joint venture marking the company’s entry into the Turkish market. This initiative takes place in one of the fastest-growing parcel markets in Europe. The founding was announced on July 1, 2026, in Amsterdam.
Leadership and partnership
The leadership of GLS Türkiye will be taken over by Özgür F. Kut as CEO. The joint venture involves a group of Turkish logistics investors led by Aslan Kut, who has played a significant role in developing the parcel delivery industry in Türkiye. The investors also include former FIATA president Turgut Erkeskin and Şerafettin Aras, who is currently the chairman of the board of UND, a leading transport association in Türkiye. This partnership combines GLS’s European and North American network with extensive knowledge of the Turkish market provided by experienced leaders from the logistics and distribution sectors.
Dr. Karl Pfaff, CEO of GLS Group, commented on the importance of Turkey for the company:
“Türkiye is a strategically important expansion of our European network and represents a crucial gateway to Asia. We have seen strong cross-border parcel flows between Turkey and Europe for years, and establishing a local presence allows us to serve these connections more effectively.”
Market Adaptation and Service Quality
Özgür F. Kut emphasized the need for a parcel service provider that combines international operations with local knowledge:
“Turkish companies and consumers deserve a parcel service provider that connects international operations with genuine local expertise. Our team brings extensive experience in the Turkish logistics market, and we are focused on building operations tailored to local needs while providing the reliability and service quality for which GLS is known in Europe.”
GLS Türkiye will operate under the GLS brand, combining proven European expertise in parcel shipping with deep local market understanding. The establishment of the company represents an important step in gaining a foothold in one of the fastest-growing markets for parcel logistics in Europe and expanding GLS’s network reach to serve businesses and consumers in Türkiye.
Operations are expected to commence by the end of 2026.
