Jul 1, 2026 at 7:00 AMdnata has received the license for ground handling at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport for an additional seven years. This decision strengthens the position of the Dubai-based company (UAE) at one of Europe’s most significant air traffic hubs. The license was awarded as part of a public tender by the airport operator and allows dnata to continue providing comprehensive ground handling services.
The company has been operating in Amsterdam for over a decade, offering a variety of services, including cargo, passenger, baggage, and ramp handling. Currently, dnata supports more than 20 passenger and cargo airlines at Schiphol Airport. Over 1,200 employees are responsible for handling approximately 500,000 tons of cargo and around 16,000 flights per year.
Thiemo van Spellen, Managing Director of dnata Netherlands, commented on the license award: „We are proud to continue our ground handling operations at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. This recognition reflects the trust placed in our employees and our operational capabilities.“ He emphasized the importance of Schiphol as a central hub in European aviation and announced close collaboration with the airport and airline customers to ensure smooth operations and high service standards.
Investments in infrastructure and growth
With the renewed license, dnata is well-positioned to expand its existing activities at the airport and pursue new growth opportunities. The company plans to continue investing in its infrastructure and operational capabilities. This includes dnata Cargo City Amsterdam, one of the largest facilities of its kind, which offers an annual capacity of 600,000 tons and was realized with an investment of EUR 70 million.
These investments are part of dnata’s long-term plans at Schiphol Airport, which also include the acquisition of ground support equipment and the management of environmental concerns. Amsterdam remains a central location in dnata’s European network, combining local expertise with the standards of a global aviation service provider.
Globally, dnata offers ground handling, cargo, travel, catering, and retail services in 37 countries across six continents. In the fiscal year 2025-26, the company recorded 888,793 aircraft movements and transported 3.2 million tons of cargo.
