New DSV freight service for Chicago-Rockford
Jun 25, 2026 at 1:01 PMJettainer, a 100% subsidiary of Lufthansa Cargo, and Hangyi have established a strategic partnership for the management of Unit Load Devices (ULDs) in mainland China. The agreement was signed during Air Cargo China and aims to provide efficient, technology-driven, and globally coordinated solutions for the provision, maintenance, and operational management of ULDs.
The partnership combines Hangyi’s manufacturing expertise with Jettainer’s international fleet management expertise. The goal is to enhance operational efficiency and create sustainable value along the air freight supply chain. Hangyi will take over the production and delivery of ULDs according to specified technical specifications, while Jettainer will contribute its global expertise in ULD fleet management and digital operational control to optimize fleet performance.
Integration of modern technologies
The management of the ULD fleets will be conducted through Jettainer’s proprietary IT platform, JettWareNG. Additionally, Jettainer will oversee the technical onboarding process, including the integration of advanced IoT solutions for tracking, monitoring, and process optimization. Operational coordination will be supported by Jettainer’s UCD team.
Both companies will also combine their maintenance and repair capabilities. Hangyi currently operates MRO facilities in China and Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) and plans additional locations in Saudi Arabia, Europe, and Canada. For repairs outside these locations, Jettainer will provide support through its global MRO partner network. The partnership also includes comprehensive transport services. While Hangyi ensures strong national coverage in China, Jettainer will support European operations through its established logistics network. Depending on operational requirements, Hangyi may also provide storage capacity for ULD storage in China.
Dr. Jan-Wilhelm Breithaupt (r.), CEO of Jettainer, commented on the partnership:
“With Hangyi, we have a strong partner by our side. Together, we can offer airlines in mainland China the most comprehensive ULD service portfolio, including the latest IoT tracking technology for maximum efficiency.”
Fei Qiang, CEO of Hangyi, emphasized the importance of the collaboration:
“The cooperation with Jettainer is an important step in our growth strategy to become a global provider of high-quality aviation services. We are excited to offer an integrated solution for the Chinese market together with Jettainer.”
