Jun 24, 2026 at 1:43 PMNestlé USA has announced the opening of a new distribution center in Arvin, California. This center is the largest and most technologically advanced that the Swiss-based company has built in the USA to date. The facility is designed to strengthen Nestlé’s distribution network on the West Coast and enable flexible operations. This will allow products from brands such as Nestlé® Toll House®, Coffee mate®, and Gerber® to be delivered more efficiently while supporting the future growth of the portfolio.
The opening of the distribution center in Arvin represents a significant step in Nestlé’s comprehensive commitment to invest a total of $25 billion in its U.S. operations over a ten-year period. These investments, which began in 2020, include strengthening production and distribution processes in the USA, accelerating digital capabilities across the supply chain, and enhancing research and development.
For the construction of the 65,000 square meter facility, Nestlé has invested over $330 million. The facility employs targeted automation to increase agility and resilience and support higher demand during peak times. With the opening of the distribution center, more than 110 skilled jobs are expected to be created in the Arvin community, promoting economic growth in Kern County.
Marty Thompson, CEO of Nestlé USA, stated, “Our investment in the new distribution center in Arvin demonstrates how we are building Nestlé for the future, modernizing our supply chain, and serving our customers and consumers faster and more accurately.” He added that the state-of-the-art, digitally supported facility enhances Nestlé’s ability to meet the growing demand in its portfolio and underscores the company’s long-term commitment to investment and growth in the USA.
Technological advances for future growth
The distribution center in Arvin is equipped with advanced digital technologies and targeted automation. This includes the largest automated storage and retrieval systems within Nestlé’s global network, which handle shelf-stable goods with greater accuracy from dock to delivery. The on-site automation is designed to enhance employee experience by reducing repetitive and physically demanding tasks. This contributes to improved safety and allows employees to focus on more complex activities. The technical systems also support technical training, upskilling, and career development.
The Arvin distribution center is the second state-of-the-art distribution center that Nestlé has opened in the USA in the past two years, following the opening of the beverage plant and distribution center in Glendale, Arizona. These investments represent a significant advancement in the ongoing transformation of the company’s supply chain.
Nestlé is committed to creating a more sustainable future and having a positive impact on the communities in which it operates. As part of this goal, the distribution center in Arvin is expected to source 100% of its electricity from renewable sources such as solar and wind energy. Additionally, the facility is planned to operate waste-free, meaning that waste materials that would otherwise end up in a landfill will be recycled, composted, or used for energy recovery. Furthermore, Nestlé is working closely with Kern County to promote economic opportunities and long-term growth in the Arvin community.
