Jun 24, 2026 at 6:14 AMThe Deutsche Post AG has appointed Joe Joseph as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the DHL Group. His term begins on June 1, 2027. He succeeds Melanie Kreis, who will complete her contract term until May 31, 2027, but will not extend it.
Joe Joseph is currently the CFO of DHL Express and brings over 28 years of experience in various leadership positions in finance. His career has taken him through numerous countries, including the Middle East, Asia, and Europe, before he took on the role of CFO at DHL Express in 2014. Joseph has established a recognized reputation in the finance sector of DHL Express throughout his career.
Recognition of previous achievements
Dr. Katrin Suder, Chair of the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Post AG, commented on Joseph’s appointment and acknowledged Kreis‘ contributions. She emphasized that Kreis has made a significant contribution to the development of the DHL Group over two decades. Her strategic foresight and financial expertise have significantly strengthened the company’s market position. Suder expressed confidence that Joseph, as an experienced leader, will ensure continuity in the finance area and further advance the company’s financial strategy.
Tobias Meyer, CEO of the DHL Group, highlighted that Kreis had been the only CFO many employees could remember. He praised her integrity and discipline, as well as her influence on the corporate culture. Under her leadership, the company has paid stable or increasing dividends over a period of ten years and involved shareholders in the company’s success. Meyer expressed optimism that Joseph will continue and further develop the successful financial strategy.
Outlook on the transition
Melanie Kreis also commented on the upcoming transition, emphasizing that the timing for the change is well chosen to ensure a smooth succession. After more than two decades with the company and twelve years on the board, she feels deep gratitude for the shared successes and great confidence in the future development of the DHL Group. She is pleased that Joseph, as an experienced and trusted successor, is ready to take on the role. Kreis is convinced that the company’s finance department will be in good hands.
