Jun 22, 2026 at 7:46 AMA delegation from the Republic of Moldova and Romania visited ThPA S.A. in Thessaloniki on June 19, 2026, to strengthen cooperation in the field of transport and connectivity in Southeast Europe, as reported. The meeting included various representatives, including Vladimir Bolea, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development of the Republic of Moldova, Andrei Popov, Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Greece, and Georgios Palazis, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Moldova in Thessaloniki. From ThPA S.A., Dr. Ioannis Tsaras, CEO, and other company executives were present.
Development of synergies in the transport sector
During the meeting, various approaches to developing synergies aimed at improving the resilience and efficiency of supply chains in the Balkan region were discussed. A central point, according to the report, was Moldova’s geographical location, which is seen as an emerging hub for connectivity to European networks. The Port of Thessaloniki was highlighted as a strategic gateway to Southeast Europe and the Mediterranean.
The delegation also discussed the need to further develop the logistics and transport infrastructure in Moldova. The role of international investments and expertise was emphasized to accelerate the modernization of transport networks in the region. Another focus was on speeding up critical infrastructure projects and strengthening the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T).
