Urban Partners sells logistics properties in Norway
Jun 15, 2026 at 8:58 AMFirst WATT Renewable Limited and MTN Nigeria have launched a partnership to promote renewable energy. The aim of this collaboration is to reduce dependence on diesel and enhance operational resilience at critical MTN locations. The program includes the provision of renewable energy systems to support electric charging infrastructures at selected MTN sites in Nigeria, as stated by First WATT.
Program details
The program consists of two main components: The first component involves the provision of approximately 34 MWp of solar photovoltaic and 40 MWh of battery storage at various MTN facilities. These facilities include data centers, switching stations, cable landing stations, and customer service centers.
The second component focuses on the installation of 60 kW EV charging stations at a total of eight MTN locations in cities such as Ikoyi, Matori, Ojota, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Asaba, Kano, and Ibadan. These measures aim to help reduce diesel emissions and ensure the operational readiness of the infrastructure. According to First WATT Renewable, the program is expected to help avoid an estimated 25,000 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions (tCO₂e) over a period of five years. However, this estimate depends on actual operational performance and final emissions.
